| Photo Courtesy of WJAC-TV Curwensville, Clearfield County (Hometown Radio PA)-- A retired state trooper, is facing charges after a fatal crash last Thursday. According to Police, the crash happened at around 10 PM, outside of Tibbens Auto Sales, along PA-879 in Pike Township, near the Lawrence Township line. Police say that 55-year-old Thomas Reed, of Morrisdale, was under the influence of alcohol, when he wrecked into a minivan occupied by the driver, Judith Jordan and her grandson, Ethan Jordan, and hit into a motorcycle, operated by Fredrick Cline. Mrs. Jordan and Mr. Cline both died on the scene, while Ethan was lifeflighted to Penn Highlands DuBois and later a Pittsburgh area hospital for serious injuries. Reed originally told officers that he wasn't under the influence, and told them he'd get the BAC test done himself at Penn Highlands Clearfield, to which officers found he didn't, to which he was detained and taken there by officers, afer alcohol was later found in his vehicle. Reed is facing 2 counts of 3rd degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, along with two dozen related charges, and is being housed in the Clearfield County Jail, without bail, as a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 29. |
